Dr. South was born and raised in Sarnia, ON and is happy to be providing mental health services to her community. Dr. South has always been interested in human behaviour and knew she wanted to be a psychologist after meeting one at just 10 years old and spent much of her childhood trying to analyze her siblings. Dr. South firmly believes that therapy is healthcare and takes great joy in helping others on their healing journey. She has a passion for and specialized training in helping 2SLGBTQ+ folks, in particular, trans folx discover and become their true selves.

Dr. South completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D) at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology-Chigaco and completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral licensure hours at The University of Texas at Austin, Counseling and Mental Health Centre, continuing to work there afterwards as a licenced Psychologist until she returned to Ontario in 2009.

Dr. South is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario to provide clinical and counselling services to adults, adolescents, and couples and has been operating her own private practice since 2010. She provides psychodynamic, insight-oriented, relational, cognitive behavioural, and EMDR therapy. She has a special interest in sex therapy and psychedelic assisted therapy.

Rebecca Nettleship, MA, RP, CCC

Faith-Based and Non-Faith-Based Therapist | Specialization: Trauma

Rebecca Nettleship is a compassionate and skilled Registered Psychotherapist and Certified Canadian Counsellor who specializes in trauma-informed care. She supports individuals navigating life’s challenges by fostering resilience and personal growth. With expertise in evidence-based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and psychedelic-assisted therapy, Rebecca offers a comprehensive approach to deep healing.

As a senior therapist at Dr. Virginia South’s office, Rebecca provides therapy for adults (18+) in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Her work is informed by her faith while remaining inclusive for clients seeking either faith-based or secular therapeutic approaches.

Rebecca is available to see clients on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Kayla S., RP (Qualifying)

Kayla became interested in the world of psychology at a young age and has worked in the mental health field for 10+ years. Kayla completed a double Honors BA degree in psychology at King’s University and has also completed an Honors Master’s degree in counselling psychology. Kayla is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario.

Kayla is passionate about working with individuals that are feeling stuck in life, have experienced childhood/recent trauma, grief, anxiety and depression, and workplace burnout.

Self-exploration and boundary setting can be challenging work - Kayla teaches mindfulness skills and uses various techniques to create a mental wellness plan that is geared towards the individual.

Kayla uses an integrated therapy approach, pulling from many modalities to create unique treatment plans. Kayla’s preferred therapies are pulled from Cognitive Behavourial Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative therapy, and traditional talk therapy.
